About this Tartan:
More often seen in its ‘hunting version, the MacTavish tartan first appeared in The Tartans of the Clans and Septs of Scotland (1906); there is also a ‘dress’ tartan. MacTavish is the Gaelic form of Thompson, but the MacThompsons have a tartan of their own, registered at the Lyon Court. - From The Tartan Weaver’s Guide by James D. Scarlett
