“The Fraser tartan shown here is that recorded by James Logan; the same pattern, but with a white overcheck instead of green, goes but the name of ‘Fraser of Lovat’, and both are regarded by reliable authorities as having been in use at the time of the ‘45. D.W. Stewart (Old & Rare Scottish Tartans) argues that the Fraser tartan illustrated in the Vestiarium Scoticum is in fact a Grant sett, shown in a portrait of Robert Grant of Lurg.”
This is the historical Clan Fraser tartan, not to be confused with the television series Outlander based on the popular book series by Diana Gabaldon, which created its own tartan.
